Following her passion for helping people become fitter and healthier, Jules opens her custom-built Pilates studio in Longniddry.
Having spent over 15 years teaching Pilates in and around East Lothian, Jules has now built her very own studio in Longniddry, helping her take fitness classes to an even wider audience. Jules studied at the Pilates Institute in London with Michael King, the Callanetics Corporation in USA and is a Beachbody PiYo instructor.
Jule’s mission is to encourage you to fall in love with fitness and all the benefits it brings to your life. She wants you to feel stronger and more flexible, have more energy, more self-confidence, look and feel better in your jeans and make new friends in the process. Her classes run Monday to Thursday and are mixed level, low impact workouts. They are a fusion of mat-based Pilates and Body Conditioning for a more intense workout. Pilates is a complete body workout which builds core strength, balance, stamina and flexibility through low impact conditioning exercises. And Jules stays true to true to the principles of Pilates focusing on lengthening and strengthening the entire body, calorie burning and overall body defining. She explains “The joy of Pilates inspired workouts is that there is no age limit, no required fitness level to get started, so there really is no excuse to not give it a go. Seated classes can be arranged too. We are on a mission to make exercise accessible to everybody.” Jules uses rollers, soft balls, ballet barres for variation and clients work out to upbeat music for a fun and highly effective full body workout.
Pilates can also be helpful in the management of injury, especially spinal pain. Having spent over five years teaching Pilates to those suffering chronic conditions such as MS, ME, Arthritis and Parkinson’s Disease, Jules has incorporated a specially tailored class to those not ready for the mainstream classes. One of her clients says “I haven’t been back to my chiropractor since starting Jules’ classes, it’s amazing”.
Jules is keen to encourage people to give Pilates a try and she offers one-to-one tuition and small tailored classes alongside her regular class timetable. As well as improving posture and reducing pain, Pilates promotes relaxation, improves balance, coordination and circulation. What’s more it is sociable and fun, as a couple of her regular clients testify. “Jules’ classes are life changing” says Shona, and Ann adds “Always hard work but so much fun too”.
