The newest of Edinburgh’s well-being spaces, Calm on Canning Street, opened in April, by yoga practitioner Katy Lomas.
More than just a ‘functional’ yoga studio, Calm on Canning Street offers a place where people can relax and connect after yoga. The timetable includes; Hot Yoga, Hatha Flow, Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Mum and Baby and Pregnancy Yoga. The studio will also be launching lunchtime mindfulness sessions for city workers to learn meditation and mindfulness techniques to help them manage stressful lives.
The studio has a strong community focus and Wednesday afternoons at the studio are reserved for charities and not for profit organisations to use free of charge. They also offer concession passes for doctors, nurses and social workers.
Katy says “Calm on Canning Street is the culmination of everything I have learnt over the last 10 years. Our core values are community, connection and consciousness and we’re truly committed to ensuring we bring yoga to the people who need it most. My aim with this space is to help people feel calmer and more grounded, support local businesses and to provide a beautiful sanctuary in the heart of the Edinburgh.”
