Kim Williams discovers the Lazy Sunday Market Series

I love local markets. Not only are they the ideal place to pick up fresh, seasonal produce that has been grown, bred, caught, baked or foraged locally, they contain a place’s cultural soul and heartbeat. The cultural fabric of a community is displayed loud and proud at markets. And none more so than at The Mart.

Scotland’s last surviving octagonal timber livestock market is being transformed from a derelict site into a colourful community focal point and is home to The Lazy Sunday Market Series. With two distinct markets every month you can browse stalls, enjoy live music, have a bite to eat, pick up high quality local produce, hunt for bargains, as well as explore the site. If you can’t wait for a Sunday, then pop into The Mart Shop. Freshly harvested vegetables and eggs sit alongside local, farm-grown seasonal and organic produce. A great place to browse, buy fresh and support local!
