Three beautiful sunny days in a row is definitely grounds for getting creative! Hayley Flangan from theDEN has three exciting pieces of news from the colourful world of Annie Sloan to help you get creative.

One of the world’s most respected paint and colour experts, Annie Sloan brings decades of knowledge and plenty of style to her hugely popular line of decorative paint. A recent introduction to her range is a tough, water-based Wall Paint that takes whatever life throws its way. Everyday spills and marks can be cleaned off with ease, making this an exceptionally practical, high performance paint for walls and ceilings. It’s ideal for ‘high traffic areas’, such as kitchen walls, bathrooms, halls and stairways. And like Chalk Paint™, it’s rich in quality pigments ensuring extensive coverage as well as a lush depth of colour. Quick-drying, it’s robust, smooth and easy to use with a luxurious matt finish and a very slight sheen. There’s no prep, no splatter, no fuss –  you can brush it on as easily as roll it on.

Annie Sloan’s Coloured Linens feature yarns dyed to match the Chalk Paint™ palette. The ten fabrics in this collection cover all styles – from vibrant, bold and unexpected, to subtle, soft and neutral, with the weft and warp woven in two different but carefully chosen colours. The fabrics in a linen/cotton mix have been tumbled to give them a soft, approachable texture, while maintaining the strength making them suitable for all types of upholstery. Experiment with fringes, buttons and piping to bring out either the complementary or contrasting colours.

There are three new practical ‘must haves’ for your Annie Sloan toolkit which enable you to easily create a myriad of looks and styles with confidence. The high quality sponge rollers, feature an ergonomic wooden handle and are available in small and large. Perfect for achieving a smooth, flat finish as we do in theDEN on our Mid-century furniture. Annie Sloan Sanding Pads come in packs of three, with one pad of each grade. The fine pad can be used for light distressing or flat finishes. For a delicate worn effect you can use the medium grade pad. If you prefer a rustic heavily distressed look, the coarse pad will help get stunning results. Critical to achieving some of Annie’s most distinctive effects, is the launch of another duo of Chalk Paint™ Waxes. Black Wax is perfect for a warehouse, industrial style and creates a great graphic look without looking aged and antiqued. White Wax can be used for a coastal, bleached, or soft Scandinavian look – perfect for recreating a traditional lime wash on bare wood.
