.With its idyllic lake-side setting and laid-back vibe, Boardside Café serves up a sense of escapism alongside an array of delightful dishes.

This 5-star award winning café, based at Foxlake Adventures, Dunbar is a unique outdoor eatery in a, quite frankly, beautiful setting. Picnic tables and deckchairs overlook the idyllic Foxlake and the menu emanates a careful, but laid-back vibe with food that relies on good quality, local ingredients. Part of the ‘Taste Our Best’ food movement Boardside Café has created a wholesome and appetising menu with delicious home-cooked food, showcasing both local and Scottish suppliers by incorporating their products into the menu where they can.

Owner, Jacquie Gibson has been at the helm of the business for six years and her passion for both high quality food and service, has gained her a loyal following as she continues to move the café forward. Jacquie says; “It’s not enough to have a great location you’ve got to accompany it with incredible food. Our motto is we don’t serve fast food we serve fabulous food as fast as we can!” Working closely with Jacquie is a fantastic team who are paramount to the success of the café and together they cater for a range of events, including children’s parties, corporate days out, hen and stag dos, sporting and other events, along with thousands of annual on-site visitors.

2019 has been a busy year for the team, revamping and upgrading the café area, train carriage and wooden cabin. Plus, their vibrant summer all-day menu has changed dramatically, boasting delightful dishes such as smashed avocado on toast, Belhaven smoked salmon, along with breakfast tacos with pulled beef brisket and shredded chicken which are slowly cooked and served with homemade pickles and red pepper salsa, all of which have been a huge success. So with all this on the menu, are they taking a step back? “No” laughs Jacquie “We’re forever coming up with new ideas. This autumn and winter we’re changing the menu again and looking at holding various events and workshops, which we’ll advertise once we’ve finalised all the details.”
