What’s more, Venturing Out is a not for profit organisation which means that the money you pay is directly invested back into their social objectives. Business Development Director Claire Mackenzie explains “Buying an activity from Venturing Out will provide a memorable experience but it goes much further than that. Our social aim is to grow the provision of adventurous activities for people within East Lothian who may struggle to access them because of disability, poverty or other social disadvantage.

The company believes that adventurous activities should be accessible to all and that everyone has the right to feel the benefits these activities can have on both the body and the mind. Claire adds “One of the projects run by Venturing Out is a provision for children with additional support needs and their families. We ran a watersports programme throughout 2018 and are expanding this in 2019 to cover more activities such as rock climbing, bushcraft and orienteering.
