There’s a revolution happening in British food, and it’s happening on the street. Right now some of the most exciting food is being served by passionate and talented traders out of trailers, carts and vintage vans.

And once again, East Lothian residents can experience the street food boom right on their doorstep. Following the huge success of its opening season, Rogue Village’s Canteen Street Food Festival is back on the last Saturday of the month, from March through to September at Archerfield Walled Garden.

Having quickly established itself as a firm favourite on the street food calendar with foodies, families and traders alike, the festival which brings street food to a rural environment, is a truly unique experience – juxtaposing trailers, fire-pits and DJs with the 18th century walled courtyard, amongst woodland trails and landscaped gardens.

The best part of the street food craze is the amazing array of food you can try. With so many varied dishes and cultures being represented through food, you’ll find incredible flavours, cooking techniques and ingredients coming together in meals that make your mouth water. Canteen features some of Scotland’s most acclaimed street food traders including; Shrimpwreck, Harajuku Kitchen, Buffalo Truck, Chick & Pea, The Big Blu, The Crema Caravan, Pizza Geeks, Bostock Bakery, Umami Spice Girl, The Cheesy Toast Shack and Mimi’s Bakehouse.

Resident DJs and Edinburgh clubland stalwarts, Four Corners, provide an eclectic carnival soundtrack incorporating reggae, funk, latin, soul and afro, in the courtyard. And, the open-air bar serves Archerfield’s signature ales or grab a cocktail from cocktail specialists including Herringbone and Poco Prosecco.

Children can enjoy The Fairy Trail, a short woodland walk where, armed with fairy dust, they can discover the tiny homes of the local fairy community. Or you can burn off the calories consumed by exploring a range of walks and trails across the Archerfield Estate.

Delicious finger-licking street food, signature ales, seasonal cocktails, music and a family-friendly carnival atmosphere – it’s all part of the revolution!
