Food and Drink Columnist Amanda Farnese-Heath’s foodie find…

Believe it or not, even though I’m part Italian I’m not a great fan of pizzas. And what’s more it takes a lot to get me to try a new place when I know nothing about it.

East Pizzas in Leith has only been open a few months, but this small and simply furnished joint absolutely rocked my pizza world. The east pizza bases are in another league and the toppings were the best I have ever tasted! The porcini, salami and local smoked mozzarella was out of this world. Wherever possible they source the ingredients within thirty miles of their Leith location. The flavours flooded into every part of my mouth and left my taste-buds singing for joy. The organic red wine was so well rounded and delicious it didn’t last long. In fact, I want to live there. It’s my new favourite and anybody who’s a fan of pizza needs to get there ASAP!
