Nestled along the banks of the River Tyne, Stevenson Mains is home to the Elder family who have been farming there for over 150 years. In 2010 Louise Elder, who had been reading about the health properties of rapeseed, started Black & Gold. Considered by many to be one of the finest finishing oils produced in Scotland the rapeseed is cold pressed to preserve the taste and colour of this natural oil. What is your greatest achievement?
Becoming an archaeologist and working at the pyramids in Egypt.
What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Don’t doubt yourself so much.
When are you happiest?
A walk on our farm with my husband, my two kids and our dog Harry.
When was the last time you laughed out loud?
When we found out last week that a cockerel we had on loan was a hen who laid blue eggs.
What is the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m the youngest of seven.
