Fringe by the Sea is coming to North Berwick this August, and what an honour it is to be their shiny new Affiliate Partner, writes award-winning garden designer Lynn Hill.

I

t is always a joy to share my passion for garden design, and the well-being benefits that green spaces bring. I am truly relishing the prospect of bringing a little slice of garden heaven to the show.

Gardens can quite literally make us calmer, healthier, and happier. Research continues to highlight how green spaces reduce stress, boost our immune systems and lower blood pressure. Spending time in a beautiful garden can even improve sleep patterns, increase productivity and spark creativity. With growing scientific evidence linking gardens to happiness, physical health, and mental well-being – what’s not to love?

Within the lively buzz of the festival, I have teamed up with North Berwick in Bloom and Field and Thorn Woodcraft Co. to create a garden oasis that celebrates the restorative power of green spaces. A little haven of calm that invites you to rest and recharge amidst the excitement of the show.

Please join me at Fringe by the Sea for a talk on ‘The Art of Biophilic Garden Design’. Discover the ways that gardens nourish our well-being and how thoughtful design can enrich your lifestyle. Packed with practical tips and inspiration, the talk will take place in the Borders Bothy on Monday, 4th August at 1 pm, with ticket proceeds going to the East Lothian charity Growing Matters.

I hope you’ll be inspired to create your outdoor sanctuary, a space that connects you with nature and enhances your well-being. And if you spot me tending to our lovely little garden oasis at the festival, don’t be shy – come and say hello. I always love to chat about how gardens can nurture both body and mind.

See you there!
